For the past five years, I have helped people recover not only from alcohol and substances, but from the deeper patterns that often drive them, including codependency, perfectionism, and other coping strategies that pull individuals away from their authentic selves. Many people come to me trying to recover from different forms of dysfunction - not just from substances. What I have learned is that no matter what someone is recovering from, the solution is ultimately the same. Healing begins with awareness, honesty, and the willingness to change how we relate to ourselves and the world around us.

ABOUT ERICA

My Background

I am an iPEC Certified Professional Coach with a B.A. in Sociology from SFSU, with additional training through the Academy for Coaching Excellence. I founded The Next Right Thing Coaching in 2022 working in-person with individuals in my community in sobriety, and later with individuals coming out of local treatment centers to help them rebuild meaningful lives in recovery.

Part of my professional foundation in recovery was shaped at a high-end treatment center in Marin County, CA serving high-net-worth individuals including actors and musicians, where I coordinated individualized care and programming.

This experience gave me a unique view and understanding of the pressures performers face and how difficult it can be to maintain wellness in environments that do not naturally support it. It also strengthened my ability to translate clinical insight into real-world strategies that fit the realities of a creative life.

While there, I had the privilege to work among the top mental health and addiction specialists in the country, including the renowned Dr. David Smith, founder of addiction medicine and San Francisco's Haight-Ashbury Free Clinic. The opportunity to help facilitate his Brain Function & Neurobiology workshop with clients was highlight of my time there.

Supporting the Electronic

Music Community

In 2025, I began working specifically with electronic music artists. This was born out of a decades-long passion for the music and a recognition of how relentless the industry can be. In a culture where substance use is often normalized, the pressure to perform can be dangerous.

I believe electronic music is therapeutic and has the power to heal—a belief now increasingly backed by science. However, the creators making this music and shaping this culture owe it to themselves to build a life that supports their own mental and physical health. I help artists create a sustainable path so they can have a long, meaningful career and a fulfilling life, both in and out of the spotlight.

A Collaborative Network of Care

While my coaching is rooted in lived experience, I recognize that true wellness often requires a multi-faceted approach. To ensure my clients have the highest level of support, I maintain a trusted network of healthcare professionals. When needed, I collaborate and partner with:

  • Licensed Therapists for deep clinical processing.

  • Medical Doctors & Psychiatrists for physical health and specialized care.

  • Specialized Coaches to round out your support system.

This allows us to build a comprehensive "safety net" around your life and career, ensuring you have the right expert for every step of your journey.

Personal Experience

My work is deeply informed by lived experience. I have been in recovery since 2018 and have remained committed to a 12-step program—working with a sponsor and sponsoring other women. I have also spent over six years doing intensive work on myself in therapy.

I don’t ask my clients to go anywhere I haven’t gone myself.

I have found too many times that mental health professionals ask their clients to do "the work" when they haven't done it themselves. I believe this can be detrimental to the healing process. Sometimes being seen, heard, and supported by someone who has been there and gotten to the other side, is more powerful than any credential out there.

I have walked alongside and have witnessed firsthand the unique toll the industry takes on the people within it. I understand that the pressure to performand the gap between your public persona and your private reality requires a specific kind of support. I meet my clients with empathy, credibility, and clarity. I help you build a sustainable, fulfilling life that feels aligned and grounded, ensuring your foundation is solid whether you’re in the spotlight or in the quiet moments in between.
